The Grand Piano Series Lecturer in Residence Magdalena Baczewska returns for a pre-concert talk exploring Antonín Dvořák’s journey as an immigrant artist of Slavic origin who helped shape what we think of as the ‘American sound.’ We will examine how Dvořák blended his European heritage with the influences of African-American spirituals and Native American melodies, creating a unique musical landscape that redefined American classical music.
