Magdalena gave a lecture on Bach's unique pedagogy for the Music Educators Association of New Jersey. Discussing the progression of Bach's repertoire and the documents the composer left behind, Magdalena seeks to recreate Bach's own pedagogical style. Starting with the fairly easy Minuets in the Klavierbüchlein for Anna Magdalena Bach (not by Bach!), through Bach's Two-part Inventions, ending in the F minor Sinfonia, the composer reveals the learning sequence that includes phrasing, articulation, ornamentation, dance forms, figured bass, motivic work, and, above all, musical expression.
